Tiesitkö, että 1.4. on Suomen ylikulutuspäivä? Se tarkoittaa päivää, jolloin suomalaisten kulutus ylittää maapallon kyvyn tuottaa uusiutuvia luonnonvaroja ja käsitellä päästöjä yhden vuoden aikana. Tämän jälkeen elämme loppuvuoden velaksi.
TYY haluaa tarjota opiskelijayhteisölle konkreettisen tavan vähentää ylikulutusta järjestämällä yhdessä yliopiston kanssa koko yliopistoyhteisölle kevätsiivouspäivän keskiviikkona 1.4.
Kevätsiivouspäivän ideana on saada kiertoon tarpeettomia tuotteita ja vaatteita sekä rohkaista ja innostaa kirppistelyyn. Kirppiksen lisäksi tapahtuman aikana voi tuoda elinkaarensa päättäneitä tekstiilejä ja pienelektroniikkaa kierrätykseen sekä osallistua aiheeseen liittyvään ohjelmaan. Poistotekstiilit vastaanotetaan ainoastaan muovipussiin pakattuna.

Did you know that April 1 marks Finland’s Overshoot Day? It is the date when Finland’s consumption exceeds the Earth’s capacity to regenerate renewable natural resources and absorb emissions for the entire year. After this date, we are effectively living on ecological “debt” for the rest of the year.
The Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY) wants to offer the student community a concrete way to reduce overconsumption. Together with the University of Turku, TYY is therefore organising a Spring Cleaning Day for the entire university community on Wednesday, April 1.
The aim of the event is to circulate unused items and clothing, as well as to encourage and inspire students to engage in second-hand consumption. In addition to the flea market, participants can bring end-of-life textiles and small electronics for recycling during the event, and attend programme related to the theme. Please note that discarded textiles are accepted only if packed in a plastic bag.
